Mission
A Collection of Multiple Exposure Works with Black-and-White Film

Just as Christopher Nolan’s film Inception shocked the world with its unexpected script and analog-driven techniques, I create works that weave together film photography and multiple exposure, where carefully calculated chance gives rise to dreamlike visions. The title Mission embodies both my dream and my calling: to express Nolan’s cinematic worldview through entirely analog methods. The apocalyptic visions born from this process reflect the challenges of contemporary society while also presenting the boundless potential of human imagination. Through this photobook, I invite you to experience the miracle of creation and the journey into unknown worlds.

ZINE “Be Water”
Multiple Exposures Inspired by the Words of Bruce Lee

This zine, Be Water, is inspired by the legendary Hong Kong action star Bruce Lee and his famous words, “Be Water.” Like water—flexible, adaptable, and able to take on any shape—the concept shaped the creation of this work. Shot with a film camera using multiple exposure, Be Water reconstructs real landscapes and transforms them into non-existent scenes, a kind of “visual variation.” For me, multiple exposure is not simply about capturing reality as it is, but about expressing it more freely—an approach to creation that reflects the fluid nature of water itself. The series centers on “Monet’s Pond” in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, known for its clear spring water and swimming koi, and combines it with images from Hong Kong and other locations in Japan and abroad. This layering of places creates a visual journey that drifts freely across the world. The koi swimming through the water appear in these pages as symbols of peace and harmony that transcend borders and cultures. I hope this zine serves as a spark to awaken your sense of freedom and quiet creativity.

ZINE “Magritte on Film”
If Magritte Had Worked with a Camera

Magritte on Film is a visual experiment inspired by the surrealist paintings of Belgian artist René Magritte, created through multiple exposure on film. Surrealism often depicts scenes where dreams and reality intertwine—illogical, paradoxical, and uncanny images. This blurring of boundaries between the ordinary and the extraordinary resonates deeply with the way I approach multiple exposure photography. In the early stages of the series, I referenced symbolic motifs found in Magritte’s paintings, such as bowler hats, wine bottles, and clouds drifting in blue skies. From there, I began combining everyday items like boots and jackets with landscapes, creating new “visual poems” that only photography can bring to life. The title Magritte on Film comes from the question: What if Magritte had chosen film photography as his medium of expression? I invite you to turn the pages of this zine and explore that imagined continuation.

ZINE “People”
Portraits of Light and Memory Told from Behind

People is a zine dedicated to multiple exposure works with a focus on the human figure. The series was photographed using Lomography’s iconic LC-A+ camera together with the “Splitzer,” an accessory that allows part of the lens to be intentionally masked. This setup embraces both the unpredictability and creative control unique to analog photography. Layered onto the silhouettes and backs of the people featured are motifs connected to their backgrounds—such as their hometowns or landscapes tied to personal memories. Instead of showing facial expressions, the images reveal traces of their journeys and inner worlds, gradually surfacing through the overlaps. It is a zine that invites you to project your own memories onto someone else’s back. Within these multiple exposures lies a quiet story that only this technique can tell.

ZINE “Coexistence”
A Zine Exploring Coexistence Beyond Time and Boundaries

In Hong Kong stands a massive residential complex, nicknamed the “Monster Mansion.” Built in the 1960s, it still houses over 2,000 units where daily life continues in crowded layers. Though it appears as a cold mass of concrete, the building carries traces of human presence and preserves memories of its era, making it a rare architectural landmark. Coexistence takes this iconic structure as its focal point, weaving together images of nature and culture from Japan, Iceland, Egypt, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Through monochrome multiple exposures, the zine creates dreamlike visuals where diverse worlds overlap. City and nature, artificial and organic, past and future. Elements often seen as divided coexist within the same frame—intersecting and blending into one another. This zine offers a visual poem, filled with hope for how our world might exist in harmony.

ZINE “PROGRESS”

Inspired by the song PROGRESS by popular Japanese singer-songwriter Shikao Suga, this zine is curated and edited with photographs that embody the courage to take that one extra step forward. All works were captured with Lomography’s LOMO LC-Wide, using a unique multiple exposure technique that overlaps adjacent frames by half. The film used was FUJI VELVIA 100, processed with cross-processing to bring out striking, dreamlike colors.
